Gulaal: I Read All 434 Listings, and Only 59 Are Actually Reduced

Sixty thousand five hundred people in Pakistan type this one word into Google every month, land on the store, scroll for four seconds and hit a wall: nearly half the shop costs Rs 20,000 or more and nothing tells you what is actually reduced.

So I read the whole thing. Every listing on the Gulaal store, 434 of them, straight out of its product data on 1 October 2026. Chalo, seedhi baat karte hain.

Gulaal Price: What the Middle Piece Really Costs

The middle in stock piece is Rs 19,450, with a quarter of the shop under Rs 12,500 and a quarter above Rs 79,400. That spread is the thing to know: this is two shops glued together, an everyday rail from Rs 4,000 and a wedding rail climbing to Rs 690,000.

Of the 358 in stock pieces, 171 cost Rs 20,000 or more and only 77 come under Rs 10,000. Bas itni si baat hai, and it explains why so many people search the name and then close the tab.

Grouped from the brand’s own product type labels, in stock garments only. Nineteen pieces fitted no family cleanly and are left out.

Gulaal Price Against 18 Brands We Can Measure

Same rule everywhere: adult garments, in stock, women’s, priced, middle of the listed price. The market middle across 23,510 pieces at 18 brands is Rs 4,690.

Rs 19,450 against a market middle of Rs 4,690 makes this the third dearest brand we can measure, behind Maria B and Elan. Judge it against that bracket, and read our luxury brands guide first.

Is There a Gulaal Sale? Here Is What the Data Says

Seedhi baat, kyunki yehi sawaal un 60,500 searches ke peeche hai: there is no sale event, only a small permanent set of reduced pieces. Of 358 in stock pieces, 59 carry a genuine markdown, 16.5 percent. Another 268 publish no before price, and 23 publish one identical to what you pay. Our keyword file records no measured search volume for “gulaal sale” either, which is its own quiet evidence.

Three quarters of the reduced stock sits in one narrow band, 31 to 40 percent off. Nothing reaches half price.

The whole reduced set is worth Rs 514,050 off, a median Rs 8,050 a piece, and the deepest cut is 48 percent on two lawn suits falling from Rs 14,700 to Rs 7,700. Set that beside a real clearance in our fake sale discounts guide.

Ek ajeeb baat: the newest stock is the most reduced. Of the 27 pieces created in the last three months, 15 are already cut. Of the 64 created during 2025, not one. Waiting is not obviously the plan here.

The Gulaal Was Price Trap on the Unstitched Rail

Yahan us 36 percent par asterisk lagta hai. One hundred and fifty two in stock pieces are sold two ways at once, as unstitched cloth and as a ready made S, M or L, under one listing. The product data gives us the cheapest price in that listing and the highest before price in it, and when those belong to different options the gap looks wider than any one shopper will get.

Of the 59 reduced pieces, 56 are exactly these dual option listings. So read 36 percent as the best case, the one you get buying the cloth. The three pieces sold one way only say it more honestly: two lawn pieces cut 36 and 40 percent, one luxury formal cut 16 percent.

How Old Is Gulaal Stock, Really

This surprised me most. The middle in stock piece was created 695 days ago, and 167 of the 358 pieces you can order today are over two years old.

Only 27 pieces are genuinely new. The largest block on the rail has been sitting there over two years.

It is older still than those dates admit. One hundred and fourteen products, 27 percent of everything, share the creation date 20 October 2023, and 82 of them were already published between June 2020 and December 2022. That is a store migration, not a launch day. The oldest listing went up on 8 June 2020.

Only 58 of 416 garments are sold out, 13.9 percent, which sounds healthy until you see where they sit.

Gulaal Lawn: the Cheapest Way In

If you came for lawn, and 90 people a month search exactly that, this is the friendliest corner of the shop. Ninety four lawn pieces are in stock at a middle of Rs 7,750, from Rs 4,000 up to Rs 22,950. Twelve are reduced at a typical 40 percent, the deepest of any fabric group here, and both 48 percent cuts live here. It is the freshest rail too: 43 pieces were created this year.

Unstitched lawn is a middle Rs 8,100 and stitched lawn Rs 7,450, so the cloth costs Rs 650 more than the finished suit. Parh lo phir se, yaar. Add a darzi and the cloth loses badly. The only published stitching rates in the country are Cross Stitch at Rs 4,500 and Charizma from Rs 3,060 to Rs 7,650. Ek zaroori baat. Across the whole shop unstitched is a middle Rs 17,950 against Rs 7,725 for ready to wear. That is not like for like: unstitched here is mostly formals, stitched mostly Basics. Within lawn, where the two overlap, Rs 650 is the honest number.

Gulaal Sizes, and the XL That Mostly Is Not There

The rail is built for S, M and L. If you wear XL, six of every seven stitched pieces are not for you, and the route offered instead is Custom Size, which costs more. Agar aap XL pehnti hain, toh yeh sach pehle jaan lena behtar.

The Wedding End, Where Nothing Is Ever Reduced

Ninety seven in stock pieces are wedding formals or bridal couture and not one is reduced. Wedding formals sit at a middle Rs 100,000 and bridal couture at Rs 625,000, topping out at Rs 690,000. We checked that top end by hand: 34 pieces sit at Rs 500,000 or more across five named bridal collections and 12 separate prices, every one tagged for a bridal inquiry form and 28 with cash on delivery switched off. That is real couture, not a stray zero, and two of those collections are named for 2020 and 2022.

How to Shop Gulaal Without Overpaying

1. Start on the Basics and pret rail for normal money. Middle price Rs 7,200, cheapest piece Rs 4,000.
2. Treat 36 percent as a ceiling, not a promise. Fifty six of the 59 reduced pieces are dual option listings, and the deep figure belongs to the cloth.
3. Never read Custom Size as a discount. On eight pieces it costs more than the before price.
4. Do not buy cloth to save money on lawn. Stitched lawn is Rs 650 cheaper before your darzi charges a rupee.
5. Buy XL elsewhere. It is orderable on 23 of 161 stitched pieces.
6. On the wedding rail, negotiate rather than wait. Nothing in 97 wedding and bridal pieces has been cut.

Returns: What We Can and Cannot Tell You

Straight answer: we have not read this brand’s returns policy, so we will not summarise it. Our policy rows are quoted word for word from pages we opened in full, and this store was not one. Open its policy page yourself before you pay.

The market pattern still applies and it is grim: at most Pakistani brands, sale items cannot be returned at all. The Competition Commission of Pakistan has compared unspecified “up to” claims to bait and switch advertising and pressed brands to show real and discounted prices clearly. On a rail where 268 of 358 pieces publish no before price, that guidance is doing a lot of work.
