Khaddar Suits 2026: Launches Nearly Doubled, So Who Sells Them and What They Really Cost

The first cold morning arrives the same way in our house. Ammi opens the steel peti, the smell of naphthalene fills the room, and out come last winter’s khaddar suits. Mine came out a size smaller and two shades paler. Ammi said, “Dhoop mein sukhaya tha na?” I said nothing. Guilty.

So I needed new khaddar suits. I went through the complete catalogues of 19 Pakistani brands and pulled out every khaddar piece you can order today: 1,169 of them. Here is who sells it, what it costs, and what I would buy.

Khaddar Suits Nearly Doubled Their Share of New Launches

Of the 8,854 garments brands published since 15 July and still have in stock, 6.60 percent are khaddar. Of the older stock, only 3.05 percent is. That is 2.16 times the share, and among pieces published since 15 August it is 8.62 percent.

Now the honest bit. Brands sometimes re-publish old stock. All 303 of Limelight’s new season khaddar pieces were made before 15 July, and overall 364 of the 584 are older stock put back up. Counting only pieces created and published since 15 July, khaddar is 5.58 percent, still 1.83 times its old share. Without Limelight it is 2.06 times, and the share rose at 8 brands and fell at 5. Haan, the rise is real. It is just not all brand new.

Why Khaddar Suits Are Rising This Winter

Khaddar is the thick, cosy cotton every nani swears by, but there is a money reason too. Last November, The Express Tribune reported from the capital’s markets that customers are “showing a stronger preference for locally made khaddar and woollen garments due to the rising prices of imported goods”. The Pakistan Bureau of Statistics says clothing and footwear cost 9.23 percent more in August 2026 than a year before, and 11.18 percent more in cities.

Stitching charges rose more than twice as fast as ready-made clothes.

That tailoring number changes the darzi hisaab. Hold that thought.

Who Sells Khaddar Suits, and How Many

13 of the 19 brands have khaddar in stock. Baroque, Beechtree, Charizma, Elan, Ethnic by Outfitters and Generation have none. Khaadi and Sapphire could not be measured, because their stores publish no readable feed.

In stock on 17 September 2026. Suits and sets are 2 piece, 3 piece and co-ord sets. Almirah (12), Maria B (9), Alkaram Studio (6) and Asim Jofa (3) have too few to compare.

Limelight owns this shelf with 48.9 percent of all khaddar in stock, but its new season khaddar is all older stock put up again. For real winter 2026 designs, go to Gul Ahmed and Nishat Linen, which made most of the brand new pieces. And Sana Safinaz is the sneaky bargain: every khaddar suit on sale, typically at half price. What Khaddar Suits Cost

Nearly half of all khaddar suits cost Rs 3,000 to 4,999.

A typical 3 piece costs Rs 5,490, a 2 piece Rs 4,590 and a co-ord set Rs 4,000. The cheapest 3 piece was Rs 2,699 at Limelight, the dearest Rs 21,990 at Maria B. Just topping up? A khaddar shirt alone is typically Rs 1,399, a trouser or shalwar Rs 1,199. Bas, one new shirt, and last year’s dupatta does the rest.

Stitched vs Unstitched Khaddar Suits

Of new season khaddar that says stitched or unstitched, 65.4 percent is unstitched, against 31.0 percent of older stock. Brands want you at the darzi. Should you go?

The typical ready to wear 3 piece costs Rs 1,301 more than the unstitched one. At Limelight, which sells both, the gap is Rs 2,200. With tailoring 12.93 percent pricier, the hisaab is simple: if your darzi charges more than the gap, ready to wear is the cheaper khaddar suit, and far more often on sale. Printed or Embroidered Khaddar Suits, and Colours

Embroidery adds about Rs 2,100 to a typical 3 piece.

Printed is the budget pick. The new look is both at once: print plus embroidery is 18.3 percent of new season khaddar, against 2.7 percent of older stock. The News suggested “floral prints on khaddar or karandi fabrics for a cosy, cultural twist”, and yes please.

Colours come with a warning: only 342 listings name one, 144 of them at Edenrobe. Still, the shelves are dark: blue (55), black (53) and green (52) lead, each at 8 brands. The News says “Pastels, especially blush pink, are dominating winter wardrobes”, yet pink is on just 16 khaddar pieces. Love blush pink? Grab it fast.

Karandi, Marina and Pashmina Instead of Khaddar

In stock on 17 September 2026. Typical 3 piece prices come from 452 khaddar, 95 karandi, 32 marina and 19 pashmina suits. Pashmina shawls are not counted.

Karandi is the dressier cousin, with a textured weave that looks rich at a dawat. A 3 piece costs about Rs 2,000 more than khaddar, and karandi is 0.95 percent of new season garments against 0.35 percent of older stock. Nishat Linen’s 35 are all full price at a typical Rs 6,490, and 25 were made since 15 July.

Marina feels soft and brushed, but only 52 pieces are in stock and just 2 new season ones were made since 15 July. Not a trend yet. Pashmina suits are the priciest, and at 19 pieces, 13 of them new at Gul Ahmed, too few to judge. Or add a Kashmiri shawl over khaddar, and for weddings see velvet suits.

How to Choose and Care for Khaddar

• Feel the weight. If you can see your hand through it, it will not keep you warm.
• Try slub khaddar for texture. The little bumps are on purpose, and 143 pieces in stock are slub.

How to Shop for Khaddar Suits

1. Do the darzi hisaab. If stitching a 3 piece costs more than about Rs 1,300, buy ready to wear.
2. For low prices, shop older stock: Sana Safinaz at a typical 50 percent off, Bonanza Satrangi at 40 percent.
3. For new designs, go to Gul Ahmed and Nishat Linen, and expect full price.
4. Printed for everyday, embroidered for dawats, karandi to look dressier.
5. Wait a few days if you can. Khaadi’s own site says its sale starts 19 September at up to 40 percent off. That is the brand’s claim, which we cannot check.
