My cousin Mahnoor’s baraat is in December, in a marquee so cold the heaters only warm the aunties sitting beside them. Nani read the card and said, “Sardiyon ki shaadi hai, velvet pehno.” Then she told us about her maroon velvet walima jora. Again. With feeling.

So I went through the complete catalogues of 19 Pakistani brands and pulled out every velvet piece you can order today. There are 136. Bas. Every khala says velvet is back, yet the velvet suits Pakistan brands actually stock make a small rack, and one brand owns more than a third of it. Chalo, let’s see who sells it, what it costs, and how to wear it.

Is Velvet Back? What Velvet Suits Pakistan Brands Launched

Haan, quietly. Velvet is 0.79 percent of the 3,940 garments created and published since 15 July, against 0.33 percent of older stock, more than double, and 60 of the 136 velvet pieces went live this September. Last winter, The Express Tribune found shops stocking “khaddar, linen, velvet, co-ord sets”.

The catch: brands re-publish old designs. Of the 72 velvet pieces published since 15 July, 39 were created before 2026, 27 of them Baroque’s, and velvet’s share rose at sirf 6 brands and fell at 7. Three brands also promote velvet on their websites. That is marketing, so I checked the feeds:

• Maria B Winter 26 formals include velvet and silk, says the brand. So far 4 velvet suits carry Winter 26 codes, at Rs 40,990 to Rs 65,990, none discounted.
• Nishat’s “Makhmal The Festive Edit”. Makhmal means velvet, yet none of the 7,608 products in Nishat’s feed said velvet or makhmal.
• Baroque’s Velvet menu is real: 24 of its 50 velvet pieces sit under a Velvet product type.

Velvet Suits Pakistan: Who Actually Sells Them

Three brands hold 72 percent of all velvet. Brands with fewer than 20 pieces are small samples.

In stock on 17 September 2026. Almirah has 4 velvet pieces, J. Junaid Jamshed 2, and Bonanza Satrangi, Charizma, Edenrobe and Generation 1 each.

Baroque is the velvet brand of the year, with 46 of the 72 pieces published this season, but not one is discounted. Limelight is the opposite: a typical Rs 7,499 and two thirds on sale. Seedhi baat: Baroque for choice, Limelight for your wallet, Maria B for the drama.

What Velvet Suits Pakistan Brands Charge

Nearly half of all velvet costs Rs 10,000 to 19,999. Generation has no rupee prices, so it is left out.

The typical velvet piece costs Rs 16,999, and this season’s run dearer at Rs 19,950. At the top: two Maria B Winter 26 suits at Rs 65,990. At the bottom: Limelight velvet trousers at Rs 1,250, half price. 59 of 135 priced pieces are on sale, typically 40 percent off.

Now look where those discounts sit: 47 of the 63 older pieces are on sale, against 12 of the 72 new ones. For velvet suits Pakistan shoppers, last winter’s velvet is where the bachat is. Nobody at the shaadi checks the season on your label, meri jaan.

Stitched or Unstitched Velvet

Suits and co-ord sets only; shawls, capes, tops and trousers are left out. Baroque unstitched is a small sample.

Most velvet suits Pakistan brands sell come ready to wear, and unstitched is cheaper, a typical Rs 14,800. At Baroque the gap is Rs 17,950 against Rs 29,950. But velvet slips and marks, so only hand it to a darzi who has sewn velvet before, and book him early: urban tailoring costs rose 12.93 percent in a year, says the Pakistan Bureau of Statistics. Velvet Suits Pakistan Colours for the Wedding Season

Baroque and Limelight name no colours in their feeds, so only 38 velvet pieces count here, 17 of them Maria B. A hint, not a rule:

Maroon and red: 8 Purple: 7 Black: 6 Green: 6 Blue: 4 Grey: 3 White or ivory: 1

At Pakistan Bridal Couture Week, The Express Tribune saw “classic muted maroons, ivory and cream hues” dominate. Maroon and red lead the velvet list too. Only one of the 38 is white or ivory, so wear ivory in chiffon instead.

Velvet vs Khaddar vs Karandi for Winter Weddings

Velvet is the formal one, and it is priced like it. Its thick pile holds warmth and catches the light, lovely at night, heavy by day. Karandi is the clever middle: textured, warm and dressy enough for a nikkah at less than half velvet’s typical price. Khaddar is cosy and mostly on sale, but reads casual. A velvet kameez with a chiffon dupatta looks richer than velvet head to toe, and you can breathe when the hall garam ho jaye. Baroque agrees, selling seven chiffon dupattas tagged as velvet add-ons.
